Should I buy an iPad or wait next for the next gen iPad to come out?

Posted by admin on May 15, 2010 in iPad |

Everyone knows that apple always makes new generation for their products every year. And I was wondering if I should buy an ipad now or wait for the next gen ipad to come out.

Plus, if you think I should wait for the next gen iPad, what new features do you think it’s going to have?

I don’t think that the Ipad will catch on like the Iphone – if you feel like you can wait – than wait.

People say to generally wait for the second version of something before you buy it; however, this rarely applies now as products don’t have that many bugs these days to sort out. Especially with a company like Apple.
I would say if you can’t wait, but the Ipad now however if you want an updated version which would probably be better than the first I would wait for the newer one.

I don’t know what they would add, maybe a built in camera?

It is entirely up to you, and you make some good points. The iPad is here to stay, and a new iPhone is coming out in July and since the iPad is based on the iPhone (both OS and hardware) expect to see a feature jump on the next gen of iPad. Especially with respect to the WiFi/3G thing. If the 3G outsells the Wifi, it may be that only a WiFi 3G version will be sold in the future.

But a counterpoint is that the iPad is not a laptop. It has all the capabilities and power it needs to accomplish it’s purpose right now. The newer iPad will not get 4 cores or two cameras or USB ports. It is what it is, and if you need more, that’s what laptops are for. The iPad as it is right now will get software upgrades for years, just like the iPhone.

    Hope this helps.

I can’t wait to get the new Ipad. I’m glad I waited to get a Kindle because the Ipad is way cooler. There is a site giving them away for free as a promo for anyone that is interested. http://ow.ly/1ruE1

Well, you could try winning a free iPad at the Colosseo iPad Giveaway and STILL buy a new one a year from now.

if you want an iPad, they you should wait for the next one. for these reasons:
    1. Apple is known to make better second generation products
    a. It could have a front facing camera for video chat, as well as just numerous apple apps
    2. Videos on the iPad have a 1-2.5inch margin on top and bottom
    3. In the next update for the iphone in july, you will be able to get books on it
    4. Are you really gonna want to carry around another device? If you go away on a plane, will you bring your phone, laptop, and now an iPad? What can an iPad accomplish for you that the macbook/laptop cant? It’s just extra weight in your bag.

Personally, I dont see the need for this. If you have the money, wait to see what the new iphone will have to offer. It will be announced in June

But if you wait for iPad2 before you buy, that would mean that iPad3 would be just year away. And if you decide to buy iPad3 then at that time, iPad4 would just be a year away! And if you get iPad4, then iPad 5 would be……..do you see where I’m going with this? :)

There were rumors about iPad2 the NEXT DAY after iPad1 went on sale. There will always be the “next big thing” coming out sometime soon, but if you always wait for the new version that’s not quite out yet you would never buy anything……especially in the Tech world.

Here’s the real deal: do you feel that you need (and I use that term loosely) an iPad right now? If so, you should get one. If not, perhaps you should wait and see what Apple has in store for the future.

No one know what the next gen Apple product will be like. Shoot, just last summer bloggers and tech people were making predictions about the iPad that were WAY off (like that it would start at $1000 for the base model, for example). Apple is so tight-lipped that we have no idea what Apple will release next.

Personally, I’m getting an iPad now, but I’m waiting until later this month when the 3G model comes out (I want mobile internet). Sure, iPad2 could blow mine out of the water, but if I like version 1 and it works for my needs then I’ve got my money’s worth. And you can always sell version 1 to offset the cost of version 2. I have a friend who sold his 1st iPhone when the 3G came out, and sold his 3G when the 3GS came out. He’s probably going to sell his 3GS when the next one comes out. :)
