@iPhoneShopUSA I suspected it was the LCD and so I replaced it. The symptoms are still the same. Is something shorting out?
@Imobejoas it’s the iPhone LCD and check the cable first before replacing it, it might be just loose.
I have a display problem with my 3g where the display flickers randomly, especially if pressure is applied in the top right corner. Is it an LCD problem or a digitizer problem? What should I replace? TIA!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH, THE VIDEO IS HELPFUL
@sugarcoated122 reboot your iPhone by holding down the home button and power button until you see the Apple Logo appear.

Hi, anyone know if the 3G/3GS digitizers are the same?
@nickkuryakin , I had the same problem, youl need to open it up and change it, you probably didnt place the home button directly on the metal sheeting properly or maybe youve managed to tear the fat gold cable which runs to the home button , my home button works but you have to press real hard for it to work, im thinking of changing it but dunno if its worth the hassle,
Thanks for the vid. it made it easy to follow
@nickkuryakin
The reason your home button isn’t working now is because the back and the screen aren’t pushed back together properly. The same thing happened to me yesterday and after googling a little I found the problem. Look on the other side of the home button, there are 2 copper plates that need to touch the 2 prongs on the motherboard. I bent the pins slightly up and also super glued the back cover to the bezel and it fixed the problem. Be careful not to be too messy with the superglue!
The bit where it says hook the paperclip in the corner where the circle is , is not worth the risk as the preasure under that one corner pops the LCD screen , it makes more sense and is easier to just gently pry at the side and it pops itself out , be very wary
@nickkuryakin check the 2 pins on the iphone 3g or 3gs home button cable. they easily break off.
@UnixextrimHH you have to get the touch panel and glass for the iphone 3g or 3gs if your glass is cracked. there’s no way around it.

Thank you for the tutorial. My screen didn’t work properly for ages. I couldn’t text. Got a new digitizer on ebay for 20 Euro. iPhpne is now good as new! Im so happy.
this repair worked fine, but since this i have tried to replace the back of the phone. after putting it all back together the home button doesn’t work! any ideas?
Great info!
Great instructions very clear
Great video
@Gbermeo are you sure you pressed the digitizer motherboard connection all the way into its slot?
what has 2 thumbs and is an idiot? THIS GUY. long story short: the phone, which i was told was a 3GS, was a gift that came in a 3GS BOX but turns out it’s a 3G. dang, it’s almost like finding out you were adopted! no worries though. i have a new screen coming. again, your tutorial was clear and concise and thanks for the time and effort.
@pegcityjatt it’s exactly the same but the parts are different
@nickkuryakin it should be ok, don’t be surprised if you get a call in the middle of changing the iphone 3g glass. ;)
