How to hook up a surround system to a macbook?

Posted by admin on Oct 28, 2009 in MacBook |

I am looking to find out how to hook up a Logitech X-540 surround system to my macbook with a stereo combined digital output. The system has three standard 1 subwoofer, 1 right and 1 left – all 1/8 plugs. Ho would I go about connecting this to my macbook?

Thanks!

If you’re willing to run Windows, and you have an Expresscard 54 slot, I’d highly recommend the Creative Sound Blaster x-fi notebook card. It’s incredible.
I dont bother with those cords anymore, I go SPDIF from this card to the Z-5500s. It’s great.
The card also has an accessory that plugs into it so you have your standard Green/Orange/Black/Pink plugs.

Take a look, anyway. It does up to 7.1 so you’re kind of futureproofing yourself.
